Does anyone know the name of this movie about a young Jewish who becomes a "Nazi" just to survive?

I believe that the film is a German film and about a young Jewish man
who forges paperwork or something to become a Nazi in WW2 to blend in.
It was a great WW2 film, and I have Googled to no avail. It must be a
late 90's to mid 2000's film as I remember seeing it in 2006. I am
just trying to recall the title. Any suggestion or relevant titles
would be appreciated.
